Official: Fort Hood soldier reports car used in SXSW fatal crash stolen

SAN ANTONIO — A Fort Hood soldier who believes his gray Honda Civic was used in a crash in Austin that killed two people and injured 23 reported it stolen to the Killeen Police Department Thursday morning.

Police identified the suspect accused of killing two people and injuring 23 Wednesday night as Rashad Charjuan Owens, 21, of Killeen. He was convicted of a driver under the influence of marijuana in November 2011 in Fairbanks, Alaska, after he struck a light pole. He was also charged with leaving the scene of the same incident, but prosecutors dismissed that charge, records show.
