Mission BBQ Oviedo 9-11 Remembrance

Our Story
MISSION BBQ opened its doors for business on September 11, 2011.

Ten years after our world changed forever, in some small way we wanted to change it back.

As the founders of MISSION BBQ, we strive every day to remind everyone what makes Our Country great—its heroes.

Who are we? Two friends passionate about BBQ, patriotic for Our Country, and who believe in running a business with meaning and purpose.

We believe there is nothing more American than BBQ. And nobody more American than the brave men and women who have sworn to protect and serve Our Communities and Our Country. We do what we do for the love of our soldiers, firefighters, police officers, first responders—all our loved ones in service.

We set across this great land from Texas to Kansas City, the Carolinas to St. Louis...to discover the secrets of great BBQ.

Every day we strive to serve you authentic BBQ made from the freshest, most delectable ingredients, and serve it to you in a patriotic dining room filled with tributes to those who’ve made Our Country great, given to us by the people who earned them. Stop by at lunchtime, and you might catch us during our daily salute to the Stars and Stripes.

We don't do any of this because we have to. It's because we want to.

At MISSION BBQ, we are Proudly Serving Those Who Serve. Come help us complete Our Mission.

38th National Veterans Wheelchair Games

Yesterday at the Ovideo Aquatic Facility the 38th National Veterans Wheelchair Games.
The National Veterans Wheelchair Games is co-presented between the Department of Veterans Affairs and Paralyzed Veterans of America. The Games serve Veterans with Spinal Cord Injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Amputations and other central neurological impairments with the goal to increase their independence, healthy activity and quality of life through wheelchair sports and recreation. Veterans are being exposed to wheelchair sports at their home VAMC or PVA Chapters as part of their rehabilitation to improve function, independence and getting them active in their home communities in sport and fitness.

This group is training to be "lifters" to help get the veterans into the pool and out of it.

Disabled Iraq Veteran Loves Tiny Home

Tiny home in Oviedo fits the needs for veteran wounded in Iraq

Marine Corps veteran Peter Banach came home from Iraq in 2007 with a shattered ankle, a broken back and post-traumatic stress disorder caused by an improvised explosive device that detonated near his vehicle in Fallujah.
Returning to his old job as a police officer in New Jersey was no longer possible for Banach. Like tens of thousands of other combat-wounded veterans, he found it a struggle to pay his bills or find a stable, affordable place to live.

Now the soft-spoken 37-year-old former sergeant first class has a new home he can call his own — the latest example of a charitable undertaking to find housing for Central Florida veterans in need. The 360-square-foot Oviedo home was made possible by two nonprofits, Fairways for Warriors and Operation Tiny Home, and a Longwood business, Cornerstone Tiny Homes.

Dunkin Donuts Employee Chased My Car

It is so easy to complain about service, so when an employee goes above and beyond good service into stunning actions, he deserves praise! Never so grateful to have someone chase my car before.

Having a rough day with a lot on my mind. I needed a good cup of coffee. Placed my order and the clerk thought the clerk had a great personality. There was an elderly lady ahead of me, who just wanted to talk. She didn't notice I was there, and when she did, she apologized. I told her it was ok and I was in no hurry. The clerk treated her with patience and respect.

I placed my order and left. I forgot one of the drinks but didn't notice. Next thing I knew, Guillermo was standing next to my car with the drink in his hand.

This is Guillermo Gerristen, an employee of Dunkin Donuts on Red Bug Road, Oviedo FL. He's the one who chased my car, not just into the parking lot, but on the next road while I was waiting for the light.

I had to go back to thank him properly, naturally with my camera since it was something that we just don't get to experience often enough!
