Race Car Tribute to Vietnam Veterans

Auto of honor: Motley man pays tribute to Vietnam vets with race car

By Brainerd Dispatch
April 1, 2019

Barry Mudford crouched down to read the names of his fallen comrades closer.
A veteran of the Vietnam War, Mudford recognized some of the men listed—those soldiers from the Brainerd lakes area who lost their lives in the conflict. The names were part of a custom-designed wrap on a Mod 4 car owned by Jess Geesey, a racer participating in the North Central Speedway car show Friday, March 29, at the Westgate Mall.
Geesey, who races at the Barrows track on Saturdays during the summer season, said he wanted to honor Vietnam veterans—including his own father, who he said served as a tanker during the war. With the help of Corcoran-based Cain Designs and Wraps, Geesey's race car does just that, bumper to bumper. read more here

American Chopper custom bike for Vietnam Memorial project

American Chopper unveils bike to support East Aurora's Vietnam Memorial project

WBFO
By MICHAEL MROZIAK
March 13, 2019

The purpose of the project was to create a one-of-a-kind motorcycle which could raise funds to complete a plan to acquire one of the two traveling replica Vietnam walls. In addition to erecting the memorial on a permanent space in Knox Farm State Park, plans include construction of restrooms, a welcome center and gift shop. DiPietro told WBFO the front entrance to the park will also be reworked.
A motorcycle custom-built as a means to support a project to bring a traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall to Western New York permanently was unveiled in a nationally-televised broadcast Wednesday evening. A local State Assemblyman hopes the Vietnam Veteran-themed chopper can join the replica wall as a permanent fixture in Knox Farm State Park in East Aurora.
A screen capture from the Discovery Channel's program American Chopper shows a custom-built motorcycle which pays tribute to Vietnam veterans. The motorcycle will be used to raise funds to acquire and permanently relocate one of the traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall replicas to Knox Farm State Park in East Aurora. Credit Discovery Channel screen capture
The project to build the motorcycle was first announced last December in Buffalo. Orange County Choppers, based downstate in Newburgh, constructed the motorcycle paying tribute to Vietnam veterans. The work was highlighted in the episode of Discovery Channel's American Chopper airing March 12.

Nam Knights Eternal Chapter Orlando

Yesterday the Nam Knights Orlando Chapter, also known as the Eternal Chapter of the Nam Knights held the annual Biketoberfest party and remembrance service to lay bricks for members who passed away since the last year.
In the Nam Knights, it is all about those who serve and family.

You can tell by the sound my camera makes when zooming in and out that it is wearing down. Not sure how much longer it will hold out, so please excuse the added sound. It has done a few hundred videos and is getting tired.

MEMORIAL DAY/weekend  events:   (Mon. May 25) PLEASE consider joining with other organizations, Posts, etc. to commemorate and honor the DECEASED warriors and veterans of our communities.   Please consider the staggering of ceremony days and times.   Joining with others and staggering of days and times allows for a larger number of persons to participate in the ceremony, a larger overall attendance, saves monies and resources, allows more media coverage opportunity, etc.   I know…I frequently hear “We’ve ALWAYS done it this way for ten (or thirty, forty) years..”  But there can more awareness of the participating groups when they join together to form a larger effort.   Then you might gain the interest of potential new members.
