Actress identified bodies of her mother and brother for medical examiner
CHICAGO, Illinois (CNN) -- A body believed to be that of the missing 7-year-old nephew of Oscar-winning actress Jennifer Hudson was found Monday inside an SUV, an FBI official and Chicago police said.

Speaking at a news conference on an unrelated matter, FBI Deputy Director John Pistole said the body is "believed to be" Hudson's nephew, Julian King, and the FBI is working with the Chicago Police Department to confirm the identity.

Deputy Chief Cmdr. Wayne Gulliford said police were responding to "a call about a suspicious auto" in the west side of Chicago at approximately 7 a.m. when they found the body inside a parked white Chevy Suburban, which had a license plate matching the description in the child's Amber Alert.

Investigators were working today to identify the body of a child found in a car on Chicago's West Side, while family members of Oscar-winning singer and actress Jennifer Hudson assumed the worst--that this was her missing nephew--and organized a noon church vigil.

The body was found in the white Chevrolet Suburban that police were looking for in their search for 7-year-old Julian King.

The Suburban with Illinois license plate X584859 was found in the 1300 block of South Kolin Avenue around 8 a.m. after police received a call of a suspicious vehicle. The SUV was towed away for evidence processing. Neighbors disputed how long it had been there. A resident of the block, LaShaun Bouie, 36, said it must have appeared after 3 a.m. Monday morning. Rasheem Jackson, 21, who lives a block away, thinks he remembers seeing it as early as Saturday. Police received a call for a suspicious car at 7 a.m.

If the boy is identified as Julian King, it will confirm detectives' worst fears because a law enforcement source said bullet casings were found in the boy's room on Friday. But the source said they had not found other evidence of violence in the room.

Orthopedic surgeon confirms foot belonged to a child

Search resumed Tuesday; officials hope scent will be stronger

RUSSELLVILLE, Alabama (AP) -- Police say a dog in northwest Alabama dug up a child's severed foot -- and an investigation is under way to find the child.

Chris Hargett, the police chief of Russelville, Alabama, said Monday that his officers got a weekend call from an area resident who says the foot was dragged up by a dog.

Hargett says an orthopedic surgeon confirmed that the foot belonged to a child and now a search has been launched in hopes of finding other remains.

So far, Hargett says, search teams have had no success as they used sniffing dogs Sunday to comb areas near the northwest Alabama community. They plan to resume the search Tuesday, hoping any scent from decomposing remains may be stronger by then.

Police are also checking for any reports of missing children.

Police use infrared sensors to scour woods for 5-year-old

Police use infrared sensors to scour woods for 5-year-old

The mother of a 5-year-old who went missing while in the custody of his father made a renewed plea for her son's return yesterday, as police expanded their search with a helicopter equipped with infrared equipment over a wooded area in Lynn.

Daisy Colon spent yesterday posting missing person fliers throughout Lynn in hope that someone has seen her son, Giovanni Gonzalez, in the four days he has been missing or so that anyone who may have him in custody would have the sympathy to let him go.

"Giovanni, I miss you and I love you," a tired Colon said yesterday. "If you see him . . . please bring him back home. Let him go."

She urged anyone with information to call police, no matter how insignificant they believe their information may be.
