Westboro hate group stalking another family funeral

After all, stalking is what this is. They do not show up at every military funeral so they decide who to go after. They find out where the funeral will be and gear up to tell them how much God hated their family member.

Members of the Kansas-based Westboro Baptist Church plan to picket the funerals today of a man and his young son who were found slain in a triple homicide Sunday in Chesterfield County.

The anti-gay, anti-Semitic group — known for heckling at military funerals claiming God kills soldiers as punishment for national tolerance of homosexuality — faxed a statement announcing it will picket the funerals of Thomas Scott Allred, 40, and Allred's 7-year-old son, Morgan, outside the Chester Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home on West Hundred Road.

Maryland Psychiatrist Mom Who Killed Son And Self Agonized Over School Costs

Margaret Jensvold, Maryland Mom Who Killed Son Ben Barnhard, Agonized Over School Costs

ERIC TUCKER

WASHINGTON — Ben Barnhard finally had reason to be optimistic this summer: The 13-year-old shed more than 100 pounds at a rigorous weight-loss academy, a proud achievement for a boy who had endured classmates' taunts about his obesity and who had sought solace in the quiet of his bedroom, with his pet black cat and the intricate origami designs he created.

But one month before school was to start for the special-needs teen, his mother, psychiatrist Margaret Jensvold, shot him in the head, then killed herself. Officers found their bodies Tuesday in the bedrooms of their home in Kensington, Md., an upper-middle class Washington suburb. They also found a note.

"School – can't deal with school system," the letter began, Jensvold's sister, Susan Slaughter, told The Associated Press.

And later: "Debt is bleeding me. Strangled by debt."

National Guard, 4 tour combat vet in murder-suicide report

The report mentions that the question about PTSD came up but "had nothing to do" what happened. How they can explain a four tour veteran, coming home and killing his girlfriend, child and then himself, will be very interesting to read if he did not have PTSD.

Military service played a large role in Robert Liddick's life

Reported by: Chris Papst Email: ChrisPapst@cbs21.com
Contributor: Nate Wardle
Continuing coverage of a double murder and suicide in Cumberland County. We now know more about the man who police say killed two people early yesterday morning before killing himself.

Robert Liddick is believed to have shot his live-in girlfriend, Wendy Royer and Paul Johnson while Johnson's 18 month old son was in the house.

Wednesday we reported that Robert Liddick had years of military service and now we know much more about that service.

Liddick started his military career back in 1987 with the Army Reserves and later switched to the Air Force. He was involved in numerous military operations from Noble Eagle, which involved Homeland Security after 9/11, to Iraqi Freedom to Enduring Freedom.

Robert Liddick life

Some may read this report along with a too many others and believe combat veterans are all "dangerous" but when you consider there have been more than 2 million deployed into Iraq and Afghanistan, the percentages are very low. We cannot ignore these reports any more than we can ignore the numbers of suicides, attempted suicides and veterans charged with crimes. We have a responsibility to all of them and their families. We cannot ignore the veterans coming home, relatively emotionally unwounded, or with mild PTSD, needing support and help readjusting. The fact is, we cannot ignore any of them. That's how we got into this situation in the first place.

WWII we did a fantastic job getting jobs, education and housing. After all it was hard to ignore them when it seemed as if everyone knew a veteran personally. When they came home from Vietnam, we did a great job staying away from them, insulting them and blaming them for what was happening to them. No jobs, turned away from all the service organizations, parents of WWII generation telling them to "just get over it" and we made them ashamed they went where we sent them. It has taken almost 40 years to restore their dignity, yet many are still homeless, jobless, trapped in a backlog pile of claims topped off with the veterans getting help from the VA seeing their appointments cut back so that the newer veterans can be seen and their quota of getting them in the door is met. The fact remains for all the advances in taking care of them, stories like what happened to Robert Liddick, Wendy Royer and Paul Johnson. Two people dead because someone else served? How do they explain someone dedicated to risking his life for others turning around and taking the lives of others?

Was "bath salts" behind 2 tour soldier killing his wife, son and himself

Fort Lewis soldier who killed wife, self had taken synthetic 'bath salts' drug

Stewart, a twice-deployed combat medic stationed at Joint Base Lewis-McChord

By Christine Clarridge
Seattle Times staff reporter
An Army medic who police say shot and killed his wife before turning the gun on himself in April was under the influence of a powerful drug known as "bath salts."

On Monday, the Thurston County Coroner's Office said toxicology tests done on David Stewart, 38, and Kristy Sampels, 38, revealed they both had the bath-salt chemical, methylenedioxypyrovalerone (MDPV) in their bodies when they died. While the results help explain the behavior of Stewart, according to the coroner, it does not shed light on what happened to the couple's 5-year-old son, who was found suffocated in the couple's Spanaway home.

Bath salts, which in April was being sold legally to state residents in tobacco shops and over the Internet, have a chemical composition that's similar to methamphetamine, according to the Washington Poison Center.

(CNN) -- The Dallas County Medical Examiner's Office ruled Wednesday that a Texas mayor's death was a suicide and her daughter's a homicide.

Coppell Mayor Jayne Peters and her daughter Mary Corinne were found dead Tuesday evening by officers who had been sent to check on the family's welfare. The officers had gone to the home at the request of the city manager's office after the mayor did not show up for a scheduled council meeting.

Police in Coppell have not said if the mayor killed the daughter before turning a gun on herself.

"The case is still under investigation, and we have established no classification with regards to the incident," spokeswoman Sharon Logan said. " We are not ruling out anything at this time."

Five children found dead in suspected murder-suicide

Five children found dead in Graham-area home
Pierce County Sheriff's deputies late this afternoon found five children, ages 7 to 16, dead in a Graham-area home, apparently the victims of violence.

By The News-Tribune, Seattle Times staff

Pierce County Sheriff's deputies late this afternoon found five children, ages 7 to 16, dead in a Graham-area home, apparently the victims of violence.

Investigators believe the children may have been killed by their father who was discovered dead earlier this afternoon at an Auburn address, according to Pierce County Sheriff's spokesman Ed Troyer. They believe the man, 35, took his own life.

Deputies were called to check on the welfare of the children in a home in the 20400 block of 135th Avenue Court East after officers found the father's body.

Police: Dad killed kids because wife was leaving
By PHUONG LE Associated Press Writer

GRAHAM, Wash. (AP) -- Investigators believe a man fatally shot his five children in their home and killed himself after he found out his wife was leaving him for another man, a sheriff's spokesman said Sunday.
The bodies of James Harrison's children were found Saturday in the family's mobile home in Graham, about 15 southeast of Tacoma. Harrison had been found earlier in the day, dead of a self-inflicted gunshot, behind the wheel of his car in Auburn, about 18 miles north of Graham.
Authorities haven't released the family's name, but relatives have identified them as the Harrisons.
The man and his 16-year-old daughter had found his wife with another man at a store in Auburn on Friday night, Pierce County Sheriff spokesman Ed Troyer told The News Tribune of Tacoma.
Ryan Peden, the daughter's classmate, had said she told him Friday night that her parents had gotten into a fight and her mother had left. The father followed the mother and tried to get her to return, said Peden.

POSSIBLE MURDER-SUICIDE: Airman, wife die in shooting

This story wasn't sad enough until I read the names. This is after the reporter said authorities have not released the names, which usually means a family member picked up the paper and found out about this tragedy by reading it. Why was there a rush in reporting the names? Wasn't it bad enough they reported the address? What harm would it have done to have waited until the police said they contacted the families?

In the past, I've been part of this kind of mess without intending it. I simply assume that police have notified family members before reporters release the names. It's very hard on them to find out someone they love died but especially hard when it involves suspected murder-suicide.

SWAT officers find couple dead after standoff in North Las Vegas

By MAGGIE LILLIS, LAWRENCE MOWER and KEITH ROGERS

A Nellis Air Force Base airman and his wife died in what is believed to be a murder-suicide Friday in a North Las Vegas apartment.

The deaths ended a roughly two-hour standoff with North Las Vegas police, during which the airman, an Iraq war veteran who might have been suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder, shot at police.

Police said a third party, a friend of the wife's, called police about 5:30 a.m. claiming that the gunman was holding a gun to his wife's head inside the apartment, Sgt. Tim Bedwell said.

Officers made contact with the man at a ground-level unit at the Craig Ranch Villas apartments, 370 Casa Norte Drive, near Commerce Street and Lone Mountain Road. He retreated into the apartment and fired shots through a window at police, Bedwell said.

When SWAT officers entered the apartment about 8 a.m., they found the two people dead from gunshot wounds. click link for more
