Psychiatry Center Offers Services to Veterans

Recent studies show soldiers returning from Iraq and Afghanistan often have serious mental health issues that go undetected or untreated.

Now a psychiatry center in Onalaska is offering their services specifically to veterans, and many of its specialists have served overseas themselves. They hope that will give soldiers the push they need, to admit they may have a problem and seek help.

"We like to say you're not broken, you're just been compromised, and now you need to have that support to get your balance back," said David Patterson, a mental health specialist at Awakened Mind.

Awakened Mind is not affiliated with the military, which they say is a benefit for soldiers, who fear they'll be treated differently by their superiors or colleagues.
