Bragg soldier found dead in training area

FORT BRAGG, N.C. — A Fort Bragg soldier has been found dead in an Army training area in North Carolina.
Fort Bragg officials said the soldier was reported missing Tuesday morning after he failed to return to the assembly point after an exercise. His body was found after an intensive search of the Hoffman Training Area, about 50 miles west of Fayetteville.
His name has not been released.
Fort Bragg officials said the soldier was taking part in a land navigation test. The test is part of the Army’s Special Forces Assessment and Selection training. The training is the first step in becoming a Green Beret.
Officials said the cause of death is under investigation.
