Retail and residential structure was being built in suburb of Richmond

CHESTER, Virginia (AP) -- A construction worker was killed Wednesday when a partially built retail and residential building collapsed in a Richmond suburb, officials said.

A body was found in the rubble of a mixed-use building that had collapsed Wednesday in Chester, Virginia.

Emergency crews found the body of Scott Giordano, 38, of Disputanta, Virginia, about six hours after the collapse and continued to search for anyone else who might have been trapped, said Chesterfield County Fire Battalion Chief Robby Dawson.

One other male worker with minor injuries was taken to a hospital.

Dispatchers received reports that up to a dozen workers were inside when a 60-foot-section came crashing down around noon.
