House of Heroes repairs veteran's home
Grainger Industrial Supply workers paint and fix up home

Retired Army veteran David Thomas no longer has to worry about getting much-needed repairs to his house.
That's because about 15 House of Heroes volunteers took care of them for free Saturday.
"It means a lot because they're upgrading the house," Thomas, 80, said Saturday morning. "They're even going to work in the yard."
House of Heroes is a nonprofit organization that sends volunteers to fix and spruce up the homes of military and public safety veterans and their families. Repair recipients are usually disabled, living on fixed incomes or facing other physical or financial challenges.
Employees from Grainger Industrial Supply arrived at Thomas' Dunbar Avenue home to repair a water-damaged ceiling, replace old fixtures and paint the kitchen, bathroom and hallway, among other things.
Grainger employees said the work, if Thomas had hired someone to do it, would have cost him between $2,000 and $3,000.
"This is a blessing because the house is falling apart and there are no funds," said Hilda Lee, Thomas' daughter.
