Is God the God of the living?

Jesus said "He is not the God of the dead, but of the living" Mark 12:27
So how can it be that the unborn seem to matter more to leaders of some Christian faiths than the living? When you take a look at all that Jesus said, from taking care of the least among us to having compassion and forgiveness for others, then look at what others do, there is one thing that stands out over and over again. The living matter more. When a person sins, there is the opportunity for redemption. After all, isn't that what Christ was willing to surrender His life for? We need to look at how we treat the living before we can begin to look at how to take care of those who have not been born yet.

There is the original sin of sex without being married and without consideration of what can occur after sex but to stop the casual sex acts, we would first have to instill a sense of the true value of each and every one of us. To leave some homeless and hungry, alone, abandoned, sick in need of medical care must be of consideration to the church as much as the fact abortions occur. Christian values must include all that Christ preached.

If we choose to follow Christ, we have a sense of what is really important and how we are to live our own lives, but we also must understand that others who do not make the choice to live according to the scriptures are just as worthy of love, compassion and forgiveness. We are to take care of them and not condemn them.

The other factor is that many believe that "God breathed life into him" referring to Adam and the life was the soul. Many believe the soul enters at birth while some believe the soul enters at conception. Some believe that when God said "I knew you before you were in your mother's womb" that God was referring to the soul created in Heaven and sent to live among the rest of the world. We can be assured that when we look into someone's eyes, we are looking at one of God's children with the soul living within them but we cannot know for certain when the soul enters into the living or if it lives within the unborn.

I truly believe that if those who claim to be Christian live their own lives according to the teachings of Christ, the rest of the problems that we face will vanish including abortion, abuse, poverty, death from simple illnesses and the death penalty. A time when greed is not rewarded and applauded but compassion and charity are. A time when attacking is no longer seen as admirable but understanding is. A time when we reach out our hands to offer help instead of using them to harm. There is so much the leaders of the church should stand for and it's time they stood for all we know Christ talked about instead of something He never mentioned. Christ never addressed gay people either.

If you really want to know what God said, read the Ten Commandments and know that the res of the Old Testament is man's interpretation of what God wanted. When you want to know what Christ said, read the red letters of the New Testament and once again, understand that what others said was out of their own understanding of what Christ intended. The Bible was divinely inspired but was not dictated word for word. How many times have you misunderstood God? When you read the Bible you'll find many more who misunderstood God as well.

Archbishop criticizes Obama, Catholic allies
By ERIC GORSKI – 20 hours ago

DENVER (AP) — Denver Roman Catholic Archbishop Charles Chaput labeled Barack Obama the "most committed" abortion-rights candidate from a major party in 35 years while accusing a Catholic Obama ally and other Democratic-friendly Catholic groups of doing a "disservice to the church."

Chaput, one of the nation's most politically outspoken Catholic prelates, delivered the remarks Friday night at a dinner of a Catholic women's group.

His comments were among the sharpest in a debate over abortion and Catholic political responsibility in a campaign in which Catholics represent a key swing vote.

While Chaput has won praise from traditionalist Catholics for stressing opposition to abortion as a foundational voting issue, voices on the Catholic left have sought to apply church teachings to war, poverty, the environment and other issues.
