McCain's record on veterans issues "not good enough" for voter

Work on behalf of veterans has her leaning toward the non-vet

Sue Kaszynski of Canandaigua is working to inform herself more than the average voter, but the vote she casts will be largely by default.

She's researched the records of both presidential candidates regarding veterans issues and is leaning toward the nonveteran in the race.

Kaszynski, 53, served in the Marine Corps for almost two years before an injury forced her to leave in the late 1970s. Then she worked with veterans as a clinical social worker at the Canandaigua Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and is now retired.

She comes from a military family and her stepson, Steve, 27, has just returned from his second tour in Iraq. She hopes he won't have to go back.

She said she'll be voting for Democrat Barack Obama because she doesn't want to vote for Republican John McCain, whose record on veteran's issues, according to her research, isn't good enough.
