Father of shooting victim sues Casselberry gun range

If you saw the video, there was a man in the next booth as this happened. Aside from feeling sorry for the Moore family, we should all feel very sorry this innocent man had to see all of this as well. Now this comes out that Marie Moore was banned from Shoot Straight because of a previous attempted suicide.

SANFORD — The father of a 20-year-old man shot to death by his mother at a gun range has filed a wrongful-death suit against the business.

Charles Marvin Moore, 44, of Casselberry alleges that Shoot Straight II Inc. failed to protect his son.

The young man, Mitchell Lee Moore of Altamonte Springs, was killed April 5 at Shoot Straight, 4700 S. U.S. Highway 17-92 in Casselberry.

Video from the store's security system shows mother Marie Lynn Moore, 44, of Altamonte Springs and son standing in the same shooting lane, both wearing ear protectors, both holding handguns.

When the son steps to the line and prepares to fire, his mother steps close behind, raises her pistol and fires a single shot.

He falls to the floor, and then his mother disappears from the screen.

According to police, she then placed the pistol in her mouth, fired a single round and slumped against the wall.

Mitchell Moore was dead at the scene. His mother died a short time later at Florida Hospital Altamonte.

Marvin Moore, who uses his middle name, told police the night of the shootings that his ex-wife had been banned from the range "after attempting to commit suicide there several years ago," according to the police report. Police in Casselberry and Apopka, where another Shoot Straight range is situated, said they had no record of an incident involving the woman.
