Twist of fate saves Lakewood officer's life

LAKEWOOD, Wash. -- A twist of fate saved a Lakewood police officer's life that fateful November day when four of his colleagues were shot and killed.

Lakewood Police Officer Dave Crommes has a daily ritual: He starts his shift at the Forza coffee shop in Parkland.

So he was one of the first to get the call when four officers were ambushed there.

"I'm like, 'is everyone OK?' and no, they're not OK," Crommes said. "And I knew for a fact. I knew who would be here."
