PTSD veteran denied bond after deputy was shot

Bond denied for deputy shooting suspect

Matthew Buendia, the former Marine accused of shooting a Hillsborough County sheriff’s deputy, will remain without bond until his trial.

Buendia’s attorney agreed with a judge’s decision Tuesday to keep him in custody.

Attorney Matt O’Brien told the court that Buendia is mentally ill and would be a danger to himself and others. He said he suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and did not intentionally try to kill the deputy.
