ORLANDO, Fla. (WOFL Fox 35) - Army Specialist Luis Puertas gets a special house warming for his new home.

"I'm honored by people who have gotten together to donate this home," Puertas says.

Back in 2006, Puertas lost both his legs because of an explosion while serving in Iraq. Since then it's been difficult dealing with everyday life.

"It's really hard to find rentals that are handicap accessible,” Puertas says. “Every day was a struggle, from getting up out of bed, to getting into the shower, cooking myself, anything."

That's why NWC Construction and a group called Homes for our Troops donated the home to Puertas.
Builder Nathan Cross says Puertas will never have to make a payment on this home,
"This house is zero free to him for the rest of his life,” Cross says.

Everything in the house is handicap accessible even the toilet has its own remote.

"This is unbelievable,” Puertas says. “This is more than I ever imagined. I've never even been in a house this nice before so this is great. This is an incredible feeling."
