Morristown man on reality show rocking vets back to health

MORRISTOWN — For Jim Gervasio, music is the medicine that heals.
The lifelong Morristown resident and Marine sergeant is some 10 years back from his last deployment to the Middle East, but still suffers the effects of posttraumatic stress disorder. While counseling and medication have helped him cope and return to his civilian life, his involvement with the Internet-based reality show “Bands of Brothers” has given him new purpose.
“Bands of Brothers” was created by Lou Faiola and Steve Holtzman to help raise awareness and hope around the issue of PTSD and its impact on vets returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. Studies have shown that about one in five vets returning from deployment suffer with PTSD.
