Company helps wounded Clarksville soldier come home for leave

CLARKSVILLE, TENN

Window World of Clarksville is sponsoring a mission for the Veterans Airlift Command on Sept. 17 to get a local soldier and his family home back to Walter Reed Army Medical Center.

The mission will fly Staff Sgt. Charles “Chaz” Allen and his family back to the hospital for continued medical care, according to a news release from the company.

On Jan. 22, 2010, during his fourth tour in Afghanistan, Allen lost both legs above the knee and severely injured his arm after stepping on an IED.

Recently, Allen was granted convalescent leave so he could travel home to visit his family for a few weeks in Clarksville, where they have lived for the last 15 years, the release said.
