Family and friends of an Air Force veteran who was cycling from Portland to Southern California and Arizona have launched a search to find him since no one has heard from the 30-year-old since Sept. 6.

Matthew Porter was last seen at the Caspar Inn in Mendocino County.

He missed an expected family visit in Campbell.

Porter's cycling route was to take him down Highway 1 through Santa Cruz County.

Porter was honorably discharged from the Air Force in May after 11 years on active duty and two tours in Afghanistan.

The father of a 12-year-old boy suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder, according to his brother Scott Hallgren.
