Troops in Afghanistan not getting 3 meals a day

UPDATE
Time to start reporting on who is lying to readers. First, this is not true. Second, Congress is responsible for the money spent and has not passed a budget in years. So what we have here is yet one more person deciding that truth just doesn't matter. Wonder if he works for FOX?

If only American soldiers in Afghanistan were unemployed Democratic voters in Chicago, then they might be getting three square meals a day from the government.

But the military is the one place that Obama feels comfortable slashing expenses. While spending at an uncontrollable rate unseen since the last days of the Roman Empire in every other area, Obama has been cutting “waste” in the military like 20,000 Marines, Tricare healthcare for veterans and breakfast for soldiers serving in areas where he would only venture accompanied by heavy firepower.

Pentagon battles rumors over deployed soldiers’ meals

The drawdown in Afghanistan has soldiers in at least one province adjusting to new breakfast policies, and it’s forced the Pentagon to work to set the record straight regarding suggestions that budget cuts have left troops deployed overseas without their morning meal.

A chain email has been circulating online, claiming that “elected officials believe that our military who are deployed overseas don’t have a need for breakfast anymore.”

The rumor-busting website Snopes.com picked up the chain email, as well as statements from soldiers stationed in Afghanistan and their relatives. The site noted the email was “partly true.”

Hot breakfasts have been discontinued in some areas of Afghanistan to streamline logistics, according to the Defense Department, but officials were quick to note that MREs and often other cold food items like cereal and fruit are still provided.
