Sister fights to save lives after Marine brother became one of 22 a day

DELTON, Mich. (WOOD) - According to the department of veterans affairs, 22 vets and one active-duty service member commit suicide every day. Now, a film about post traumatic stress disorder and post traumatic stress is hoping to raise awareness, and help save lives.

One local woman is trying to get it shown in grand rapids. Angie McDaniel's older brother joined the marines right out of high school. He did two tours. One in Iraq the other in Afghanistan.

"He came back and he just wasn't the same person," said McDaniel. "He had nightmares and he was anxious, angry.They go to war and then they come home kind of to a war within themselves."

The family knew he had PTSD, but Michael refused help.

"What he said was you don't know what I've experienced what I've dealt with," she said.

Last November he took his life. Then one day on Facebook, she saw something about a "movie night for life".

A national campaign to show a movie about PTSD around the nation. So she decided to try and get it to show here.
