The man and two children who were found dead Tuesday in an on-post residence at Fort Hood, Texas, are believed to have died in a murder-suicide, officials said Wednesday.

Special agents from U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command continue to investigate the deaths, but “early indications are the deaths are possibly the result of a tragic murder-suicide involving the husband and the two children,” according to a statement from CID.

The man, who was 43, was married to a soldier who had recently returned from an overseas deployment, according to CID.

(CNN) -- The bodies of three people, two of them children, were discovered at an on-base residence in Fort Hood, Texas, the Army said in a news release.

The bodies -- one man and two children -- were found about 8:15 a.m. ET, and the U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command has launched a probe, according to the release.

Man, Two Kids Found Dead at Fort Hood Residence

A man and two children have been found dead inside a Fort Hood residence, officials with the Fort Hood Public Affairs Office says.

On Tuesday afternoon, officials said the bodies of three military dependents were discovered at about 7:15 a.m. inside an on-post residence.

At this time, no further information about the case is being released until next of kin have been notified.

One man and two children were found dead at 7:15 a.m. today in an on-post residence, according to Fort Hood officials.

All three were Army dependents, and it's unclear what caused the deaths. Special Agents from U.S. Army Criminal Investigation Command are investigating.
