Officials at Fort Hood, Texas, are investigating the death of a soldier who died Monday from an apparent gunshot wound.
Sgt. 1st Class Robert Floyd Vedder Jr., 38, died in his off-post residence in Killeen, Texas, according to information released Wednesday by Fort Hood.
Vedder, whose home of record is listed as Schenectady, N.Y., entered active duty service in September 1993 as a signal support systems specialist.

Times Union reports Suicide caused Capital Region soldier's death in Texas "The military is investigating Vedder's death, but a Killeen Police Department spokeswoman said Wednesday he committed suicide."
