Fraud, waste and abuse at VA topic of hearing in 2003, before Iraq

Fraud, waste and abuse were the topics discussed at this hearing by the House Veterans Affairs Committee. This video shows what the House has the responsibility over.  They don't get to claim they knew nothing when the committees and the senate have been holding hearings all along.

They also talked about collecting money from outside sources for veterans care.

Officials testified about recent reports of fraud, waste, abuse and mismanagement in the Veterans Administration. Among the topics they addressed were absentee doctors, felons as patients, and efforts to rectify the problems.

Oversight powers

Record levels of claims. "More than 6 million veterans enrolled." 2.3 million disabled veterans.

This was before troops were sent into Iraq.
