LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (KTHV) - A lot of wedding weekends begin with a bridal luncheon, maybe a trip to the spa, but one Little Rock couple wanted to do something a little different.

The beautiful path to marriage is getting more and more elaborate these days, but before Patricia Minor walks down the aisle, she and her groom-to-be wanted to spend time with their wedding party.

But the group went for something a little unconventional. The group decided to give back to their community by volunteering their time at the Arkansas Food Bank.

"I thought this would be a great opportunity for us to have some bonding time and some fun times," Minor said.
The groom, Will Ewings, and all of his groomsmen are either retired or active duty military. The man were wearing their favorite team's jersey as they stacked cans of food and helped in any way they could. Minor said service is nothing new to them.

PITTSBURGH (KDKA) – An Iraq veteran and his beautiful bride had a dream wedding this weekend.
It was all free, courtesy of Pittsburgh’s swank new Hotel Monaco.

Matthew Brown and Hannah Reese were winners of the hotel’s Warrior Wedding contest:

Brown walked down the aisle Sunday with the woman of his dreams.

After returning from a tour of duty in Iraq in 2007, he said he was in a very dark place. That is until he met Reese.

“It’s been hectic. Three months to plan a wedding. Everyday there was something to do. It’s been pretty hectic, but it was all worthwhile,” Brown said.

The couple entered a contest on Facebook sponsored by the Hotel Monaco and they won.

An unusual RSVP from the commander in chief leads to an unforgettable moment for Army newlyweds.

Natalie Heimel and her fiancé, Edward Mallue Jr., a pair of captains in the Army, were walking from their wedding rehearsal on Saturday at the 16th tee box at Kaneohe Klipper Golf Course in Hawaii when they were informed they'd have to move their wedding, scheduled for the next day.

President Barack Obama wanted to play through.

It was the second time that day that the couple heard from the nation's commander in chief, whose affinity for golf has, at times, caused political headaches for the White House.

Stationed in Hawaii and knowing the president spends his Christmas holiday on the islands, they invited him to their ceremony on a lark. They had received a letter earlier on Saturday saying Obama regretted he couldn't come and wishing them happiness on their wedding day.
“He apologized and congratulated them,” McCarthy said, adding that it was a “wonderful talk.”

“We were all there, it was perfect,” she said. “Made their day.”
