A U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs official who worked in Nashville has been placed on administrative leave pending a probe of allegations he ran up thousands of dollars in inappropriate expenses on a government credit card.

In a statement released Tuesday VA officials said the official had been placed on leave pending an ongoing investigation into allegations spelled out in an Inspector General’s report issued earlier this month.

He will still collect his salary under the indefinite leave.

While disclosing the leave, VA officials said they could not disclose his name due to privacy rules.

“The employee who is alleged to have misused government resources and engaged in other misconduct has been placed on administrative leave, pending the determination of appropriate action to be taken in this matter.” the statement read.
